Kelsey Vance is a fine art photographer and book maker who explores how people and light interact in personal spaces to create compositions of quiet contemplation.
She prints her large-format images in silver gelatin and platinum palladium and incorporates them into handmade book forms to create an intimate viewing experience. Initially, Vance’s images were not about a specific place, but rather the broader idea of the meaning of home. Having relocated to southwest Ohio, putting down roots in a permanent residence, her work has become more specific to her own dwelling and has moved outdoors as her interest in gardening has grown.
Vance received her BFA in Photography from Maine College of Art and her MFA in Photography from Arizona State University where her enthusiasm for palladium printing and bookmaking developed.
